World Otter Day

May 28th was World Otter Day, so I decided to write about my favorite otter exhibits. I have seen otters exclusively at zoos or aquariums only. They are becoming my next favorite animal. You can find otters at the Oklahoma City Zoo, Dallas Zoo, Minnesota Zoo, Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, GA, and the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, TN. They are either sea otters or river otters. My favorite otter exhibit can be found in Seattle, WA at both their aquarium and zoo. They have both sea otters and river otters. They vary in size and are one of the few animals that I can live on land and water. A fun fact I learned while in Seattle is that otters like to eat crab. They like to float on their backs and keep the crab on their belly. It was fascinating to watch. The otters at the Seattle Zoo (Woodland Park Zoo) were smaller, and they like to eat apples while floating. It was the first time I have seen otters be active and see multiple kinds. No one otter exhibit is the same.
